The subsea cable installation campaign for IFA1 started in 1985 with cable-laying operations across the English Channel. The works involved laying multiple cable cores in paired trenches for the two 1,000 MW bipoles, deploying cable-laying vessels to place the conductors on the seabed and initiating protection and burial operations where required along the route between the UK and French landfalls.
