Cable Repair

By 7 September 2022, Red Eléctrica had begun repair works on the damaged 30 kV submarine cable of the Ibiza–Formentera interconnection, activating its contingency plan, deploying specialised diagnostic equipment to locate the fault, and planning a 2–3 week subsea repair campaign while ensuring the island’s electricity supply remained guaranteed via the second cable and local generation.
