On 3 September 2022, one of the two 30 kV submarine cables of the Ibiza–Formentera electricity interconnection suffered a fault in its underwater section about 800 metres off Sa Roqueta, Formentera, reportedly caused by external aggression such as a ship’s anchor; although the incident reduced the link’s capacity, no power outages occurred because the second cable remained in service and local generation on Formentera supported supply.
