By 30 January 2023 the horizontal directional drilling works for the Ibiza–Formentera link’s landfalls had been completed, with underground bores executed at Sa Punta in Talamanca Bay (732 m) on Ibiza and at Penyal des Vi (529 m) on Formentera to connect the subsea cables to the onshore sections while minimising environmental impact on Posidonia oceanica meadows.
