Operations and maintenance of the Humber Gateway export cable system: two 132 kV HVAC export cable circuits with a total route length of about 39 km (18 km subsea, 30 km onshore) linking the offshore substation to the onshore grid at Hedon.
Balfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution business was appointed by the Balfour Beatty Equitix Consortium, owner of the Humber Gateway OFTO, to provide long-term operations and maintenance services for the OFTO’s transmission assets. Its remit covers one offshore and one onshore substation and two export cable circuits comprising approximately 18 km of subsea and 30 km of onshore cable connecting the Humber Gateway offshore wind farm to the National Grid at Hedon. Under the 20-year OFTO concession Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution is responsible for the ongoing operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of the export cable system and associated substations to ensure reliable power transmission.
