In 2010, planning permission was granted for the onshore substation and cable spur associated with the Humber Gateway project, authorising construction of the onshore grid connection infrastructure that would become part of the Humber Gateway OFTO transmission assets. This approval allowed the developer to proceed with building the substation and connecting spur to link the offshore export cables into the national grid at Hedon/Salt End.
