Hitachi Energy received an order from Ørsted, subject to final investment decision, to supply an advanced grid-forming STATCOM-based power electronics solution (SVC Light Enhanced) to integrate 2.4 GW from the Hornsea 4 offshore wind farm into the UK grid. The technology will provide grid stabilisation by managing frequency and voltage and is planned for use at Hornsea 4’s grid connection point 69 km off the Yorkshire coast.
