Description
NKT was awarded by Ørsted the supply contract for the high-voltage DC export power cable system for the Hornsea 3 project. The scope covers design and manufacture of the offshore and onshore HVDC export cables, as well as jointing and termination. The system comprises two HVDC circuits with a route length of about 170 km of 320 kV DC offshore cable and 50 km of 320 kV DC onshore cable, together with four circuits along a 1.5 km route of 400 kV AC onshore cable connecting into the national grid. In total, NKT is expected to manufacture roughly 340 km of subsea HVDC export cable and around 106 km of onshore DC and AC power cables for Hornsea 3’s transmission link. The order has an estimated value of around EUR 500 million.
