Offshore export cable installation contract covering seabed preparation, transport, installation and protection of about 350 km of HVDC export cables and platform interlink cable for Hornsea 3.
Jan De Nul Group was contracted by Ørsted to install the offshore export cable system for Hornsea 3. The company is responsible for seabed preparation, transport, installation, and protection of approximately 350 km of HVDC export cables and the platform interlink cable connecting the offshore wind farm to the UK electricity grid. Cable-laying vessels Isaac Newton and Connector will be used for transport and installation, while the rock-installation vessel Simon Stevin will place up to 150,000 tonnes of rock for cable protection. Offshore installation operations are scheduled to start in 2025 and be completed by 2027, forming a key part of the Hornsea 3 HVDC transmission link.
