Description
Aibel was awarded an EPCI contract by Ørsted to deliver two HVDC offshore converter platforms (Hornsea 3 Link 1 and Link 2) for the Hornsea 3 HVDC transmission system. Aibel’s scope included engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the two unmanned converter platforms, based on a concept developed with Hitachi Energy. The topsides were to be constructed at Aibel’s yard in Thailand and transported to Haugesund, Norway for final outfitting and commissioning activities ahead of sailaway to the Hornsea 3 field.
