Ocean Ecology provided environmental support to Ørsted for Hornsea 2, including the design and execution of large-scale benthic investigations across the export cable route and array areas. The scope included seabed imagery surveys, predictive habitat modelling to map Annex I reef habitats (e.g., Sabellaria and stony reef) using geophysical and ground-truthing data, and advisory support to inform micro-siting to reduce impacts on sensitive seabed features. Ocean Ecology also carried out herring spawning monitoring along the Hornsea 2 export cable corridor using grab sampling to assess sediment characteristics.
