In September 2016, the UK Secretary of State granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the Hornsea Project Two offshore wind farm, authorising DONG Energy (now Ørsted) to construct and operate up to two offshore generating stations with a combined maximum capacity of 1,800 MW in the North Sea, approximately 90 km off the East Yorkshire coast.
