Electricity was generated for the first time at Ørsted’s Hornsea Two offshore wind farm, located 89 km off the UK’s east coast, after installation of the offshore substation (OSS) and reactive compensation station (RCS) in late October 2021 and subsequent commissioning work. At first power, the project was progressing towards full operation of its 165 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines with a planned total capacity of about 1.32 GW.
