Description
NKT delivered the offshore export cable system that connects the Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm to the UK grid, which forms part of the Hornsea 2 OFTO transmission assets. Under a contract originally awarded in 2018, NKT carried out the design and engineering, manufactured 196 km of 220 kV HVAC offshore power cables at its Karlskrona plant in Sweden, and executed the subsea cable‑laying, installation, and testing. The work included full responsibility for commissioning of the export cable system, using the cable‑laying vessel NKT Victoria, and was completed in 2022 to enable transmission of power from Hornsea 2 into the onshore network.
