In an October 2020 community newsletter, Ørsted stated that construction works on the Hornsea 2 onshore substation at North Killingholme, which began in April 2018, were on schedule to be completed in January 2021. This indicated a planned completion and readiness of the onshore substation, a key element of the Hornsea 2 OFTO transmission system linking the offshore assets to the National Grid.
