In 2009, SMart Wind Ltd., a 50/50 joint venture between International Mainstream Renewable Power (Offshore) Ltd and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH, executed a Zone Development Agreement with The Crown Estate for the former Hornsea Zone. This agreement granted SMart Wind the development rights for the zone area that includes what became Hornsea Project One, initiating detailed project development within the Round 3 Hornsea Zone.
