On 21 November 2016, DONG Energy signed a supply contract with EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH for 116 monopile foundations for the 174‑turbine Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm, covering 91,800 tonnes of steel with pile diameters up to 8.1 metres and production scheduled from March 2017 to April 2018.
