NKT Cables commenced installation of 170 kilometres of 220 kV high-voltage AC submarine export cables for the Hornsea Project One transmission system in early 2018, following manufacture in Cologne in 2017. Orsted confirmed in December 2018 that the entire export cable system had been manufactured and installed, completing what it described as the longest AC offshore wind export cable system ever installed.
