Nexans supplied the submarine export cable system for the Horns Rev I offshore wind farm grid connection in Denmark, delivered in 2002. The connection transmitted power at 150 kV via a 21 km submarine cable route from the offshore transformer platform to the landfall at Hvidbjerg Strand; the cable was described as the world’s first plastic-insulated 150 kV submarine cable and was manufactured in Norway. Sources also stated that Nexans delivered and installed the Horns Rev 1 power export cables.
