Manufacture of the 220 kV HVAC export cable system (two parallel subsea cables over an approximately 34 km route) connecting the Hollandse Kust (zuid) Beta offshore substation to the Maasvlakte onshore substation.
Hellenic Cables, as part of a consortium with Van Oord, supplied the submarine power cables for TenneT’s Hollandse Kust Zuid Beta grid connection. For the HKZ Beta export system, the company manufactured approximately 68 km of 220 kV HVAC subsea export cable (two parallel cables over a ~34 km route) to connect the HKZ Beta offshore substation to the Maasvlakte onshore 380 kV substation. In addition, under the same programme it manufactured around 8 km of 66 kV marine inter-platform cable linking the Hollandse Kust Zuid Alpha and Beta offshore substations, providing redundancy and operational flexibility in the offshore grid. The work formed part of TenneT’s standardised 700 MW offshore grid connection scheme and supported completion of the HKZ Beta connection, scheduled for 2022. This role related to the construction phase of the project.
