Statnett states that construction of the new Hadselfjord cable system from Melbu transformer station on Hadseløya, via 1.2 km of land cable and about 9.3 km of subsea cable across Hadselfjorden to a new landfall at Vedvika on Fiskebøl, is scheduled to start in 2021 provided that a required license is granted in spring 2020, which would authorise the new installation and subsequent removal of existing cable infrastructure and restoration of the area to nature.
