Four 132 kV subsea export cables: two from the Eastern OSP, each 22.4 km, and two from the Western OSP, each 19.0 km, forming the Gwynt y Môr OFTO HVAC export connection.
NKT manufactured the original 132 kV subsea export cables for the Gwynt y Môr transmission link. The OFTO documentation describes the export system as four 132 kV subsea cables: two routes of 22.4 km from the Eastern offshore substation and two routes of 19.0 km from the Western offshore substation, giving a total subsea route length of 82.8 km. Technical documentation refers to these as the “original NKT cable” and includes NKT fibre‑optic cable drawings, while the OFTO later reached a settlement with the cable manufacturer NKT in 2017 in relation to export cable repair costs, confirming NKT’s role as the original subsea export cable supplier.
