Description
N-Sea acted as the marine contractor for the 2022 pre‑emptive repair of Gwynt y Môr OFTO’s Subsea Export Cable 3 (SSEC3). Working for the OFTO, N-Sea installed a replacement section of 132 kV export cable between KP5.0 and approximately KP12.5, including laying around 7.5 km of new cable and installing new field joints at each end of the replacement section. The works were undertaken to mitigate the risk of power core failure associated with multiple breaks in the integrated fibre‑optic cable. The repaired export circuit was returned to full service in July 2022, and N-Sea has since been referenced as the contractor responsible for this pre‑emptive repair.
