Operations and maintenance responsibility for the Gwynt y Môr OFTO export system, including over 80 km of 132 kV subsea export cables and associated offshore and onshore substations.
Following financial close and acquisition of the £352 million Gwynt y Môr OFTO in February 2015, Balfour Beatty’s Services division became responsible for the operations and maintenance of the OFTO transmission assets under a 20‑year licence. These assets comprise two offshore substations, one onshore substation and over 80 km of subsea export cables connecting the 576 MW Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm to the UK onshore transmission grid. Balfour Beatty provides ongoing operations, inspection, and maintenance services for the subsea export cables and associated offshore and onshore substations.
