Baseline marine mammal studies for the Gwynt y Môr project area commenced in 2004, combining a review of existing data with boat-based transect surveys using visual observations and towed hydrophones, alongside land-based observations from Great Orme Headland, to assess marine mammal presence prior to construction of the wind farm and its transmission assets.
