The initial baseline benthic and fish survey programme for the Gwynt y Môr project area was completed by August 2004, following grab sampling campaigns in 2002 and 2004 and beam trawl surveys undertaken in December 2003, March 2004 and August 2004. The work described sediment types and recorded 3,681 individual fish from 41 taxa across the area.
