GE Wind Energy (via GE Gunfleet Limited, Prince Consort House, 27-29 Albert Embankment, London) submitted an application under the Transport and Works Act 1992 to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry for the Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind Farm — a 30-turbine, 108 MW Round 1 offshore wind farm on Gunfleet Sand, 7 km off the Essex coast near Clacton-on-Sea. The supporting Environmental Statement Non-Technical Summary, prepared by Hydrosearch / Deltaic Systems for GE Wind Energy, is dated ©2002 GE Gunfleet Ltd, with associated technical work (e.g. CorrOcean Collision Risk Assessment) dated February 2002. The project had been in development since 1996 under Windmaster Developments, transferring to Enron Wind in 2000 and to GE Wind Energy in 2002 following Enron's collapse, with the Round 1 concession awarded by The Crown Estate in 2001. The Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation Grant has been held since 1998. Notice of the Secretary of State's determination was published in the London Gazette on 10 December 2003, and The Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind Farm Order 2004 (SI 2004/933) was made on 25 March 2004 and came into force on 16 April 2004. The TWA Order is the project-wide development consent equivalent to a Section 36 application, hence classification as planning_consent_submitted.
