ABB supplied and installed key high-voltage electrical equipment for the Gunfleet Sands offshore substation, which is included within the Gunfleet Sands OFTO assets. Under DONG Energy’s multi-contract delivery strategy, ABB was responsible, alongside Areva T&D, for the mechanical and electrical equipment package on the offshore substation platform, including 132 kV GIS switchgear and associated systems. This role covered manufacture/supply and offshore installation of primary HV equipment during construction, enabling transformation from 33 kV array voltage to 132 kV export voltage and reliable connection into the 132 kV export cable system.
