Export cable installation for Gunfleet Sands commenced in 2009. VolkerInfra, working with sister company Visser & Smit Hanab (VSMC), installed a 14 km, 132 kV cable connection from the offshore transformer platform 9 km offshore to the onshore substation at Clacton-on-Sea. The wind farm transmitted its first power in August 2009.
