Overall HVDC system integration and converter stations for the 320 kV Greenlink interconnector, together with a multi-year service and maintenance agreement covering the HVDC link and its cable system after handover.
Siemens Energy is contracted, in consortium with Sumitomo Electric Industries, by Greenlink Interconnector Limited on an EPC basis for the 500 MW Greenlink HVDC interconnector between Great Island in County Wexford, Ireland, and Pembroke in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Siemens Energy is responsible for the overall HVDC system design and for delivering the converter technology, including engineering and design of two onshore converter stations, one near the Great Island substation and one near the Pembroke substation, operating at 320 kV using its HVDC PLUS (VSC‑MMC) platform. Its scope covers manufacture and supply of the converter equipment, construction and installation of the converter stations, and commissioning. In addition, Siemens Energy has agreed an initial seven‑year service and maintenance agreement for the converter stations, supporting early operations once the link enters service around 2024.
