Greenlink awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to a consortium of Siemens Energy AG and Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. The EPC covered the onshore and subsea HVDC cable systems, two converter stations (including a tail station at Great Island, Wexford), and onshore cable works in Wexford (Ireland) and Pembrokeshire (Wales). The contract also included a service and maintenance agreement for operations following commissioning. Construction was scheduled to begin in early 2022 following financial close, with commissioning originally expected in 2024.
