Cundall, an engineering consultancy, supported Green Volt's 2025 programme of geological investigations along the onshore cable route in Aberdeenshire. The role covered geotechnical interpretation of complex Grampian Orogeny ground conditions including Crinan/Tayvallich subgroup metamorphosed sedimentary rocks and psammites, with site-specific borehole and ground model work to inform detailed design and underground cable burial specifications. Principal Geotechnical Engineer David Simpson at Cundall is named in the developer's 1 April 2026 article describing how the team identified pegmatite formations initially mis-recorded as weathered granite, and how Cundall's specialist input was central to building a defensible ground model in an area of relatively sparse historical survey data. The work supported the next stages of detailed cable route design.
