In March 2023, Crown Estate Scotland awarded Flotation Energy and Vargronn exclusivity to develop up to 1.9 GW of floating offshore wind in Scotland under the Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas Decarbonisation (INTOG) leasing round, covering the Green Volt and Cenos projects. For Green Volt, the award secured seabed rights for a floating wind farm of up to 560 MW in the North Sea east of the Aberdeenshire coast, approximately 75-80 km offshore on the decommissioned Ettrick/Blackbird oil and gas field area.
