On 25 March 2026, Marine Scotland granted variations to the existing development consent and associated marine licences for the Green Volt Offshore Windfarm, located east of the Aberdeenshire coast. The Marine Scotland project page lists a “Decision Notice - Section 36 Consent Variation” for the wind farm, alongside marine licence variations for both the generating station and the offshore transmission infrastructure to landfall, all dated 2026-03-25 and categorised as licences. This combination of entries indicates that the authority has formally approved amendments to the project’s original Section 36 consent and marine licences. These approvals follow earlier 2025 entries on the same project page for a “Section 36 Variation Application” and separate “Marine Licence Variation Application” records for the generating station and offshore transmission infrastructure. The transition from “Application” status for these variation submissions in November 2025 to “Licence” records dated March 2026 evidences the completion of Marine Scotland’s assessment and the issuance of updated consents. The consent variation award confirms that Green Volt remains consented, but now under amended terms for its generating assets and export infrastructure. With the Section 36 consent variation and marine licence variations in place, the project can proceed on the basis of its revised consent envelope, subject to compliance with the conditions set out in the updated decision notice and licences.
