Planning permission for the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm, covering onshore and offshore works, was granted in early 2007, around four years after development rights from The Crown Estate were awarded in 2003. This consent enabled the 504 MW project off the Suffolk coast to move forward towards construction and eventual operation.
