On 8 April 2010, Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds Ltd was able to close its circuit breakers at the Leiston 132 kV substation to provide a backfeed to the Greater Gabbard onshore compound, indicating that the new Greater Gabbard 132 kV onshore substation at Leiston near Sizewell and its connection into National Grid’s system were sufficiently commissioned to support energisation of the offshore transmission assets.
