Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (RTE) signed a framework agreement with Prysmian on 17 December 2024 covering the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of the 225 kV HVAC export cable links for two French floating wind connections, including the Fos Project on the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur coast (Golfe de Fos AO6). The agreement covers both submarine and land cable sections, including landfall works, and designates Prysmian (Hellenic Cables / Prysmian Group) as the preferred EPCI supplier for approximately 300 km of combined cables for the Fos offshore grid connection, as reflected in RTE’s PPE2 procurement portfolio where HVAC cables for AO5 and AO6 (+ extensions) are shown as awarded to Prysmian Group / Hellenic Cables.
The Golfe de Fos Platform (AO6) 225 kV HVAC offshore grid connection, referred to as AO6 PACA with 250 MW initial capacity expandable to 750 MW, was included in ENTSO-E’s TYNDP 2024 Sea-Basin Offshore Network Development Plan (ONDP) for the South and West Offshore Grids. The listing describes AO6 PACA as one of two second‑generation 225 kV HVAC radial hubs totalling 0.5 GW to be connected before 2031, with the hubs collectively expandable by an additional 1 GW at a later stage.
