Smulders (Eiffage Métal’s subsidiary in Belgium) was awarded by Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (RTE) an EPCIC contract to develop and build alternating-current offshore substations for the Bretagne Sud (AO5), Narbonnaise Sud-Hérault and Golfe de Fos (AO6) offshore wind farms and their planned extensions (AO9). For the Golfe de Fos connection (covering the AO6 park and its AO9 extension, i.e., Golfe de Fos 2), the scope included engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of the offshore substation jacket foundation and topside structure housing the electrical equipment. Jackets were to be assembled at Eiffage Métal’s Fos-sur-Mer site and topsides assembled in Vlissingen (Netherlands).
