Following the November 2013 foundation award, Bladt Industries began fabrication of the 97 transition pieces for Gode Wind 1 and Gode Wind 2 at its Aalborg yard in the first quarter of 2014. The transition pieces form the interface between the monopile foundations and turbine towers, including for the 42 turbines of Gode Wind 2. Starting this large‑scale manufacturing campaign on schedule was critical to meeting DONG Energy’s offshore installation window beginning in 2015 and provided an early indicator that the supply chain for the German North Sea projects was mobilised and progressing.
