By September 2010, PNE WIND AG had completed and documented the geotechnical ground investigations for all turbine locations in the planned Gode Wind II offshore wind farm. Evidence of these Baugrunduntersuchungen (subsoil analyses) for all 84 offshore turbine sites was submitted as part of the material provided to transmission system operator TenneT. These data formed one of the key criteria set out in the German Federal Network Agency’s position paper for maintaining an unconditional grid connection agreement. Together with project approval and the construction schedule, the completed geotechnical investigations enabled TenneT, on 2 November 2010, to issue a conditional grid connection commitment and start the tendering process for grid connection components, marking a significant early development milestone for Gode Wind II (now Gode Wind 2).
