On 18 February 2016, the Gode Wind 2 offshore wind farm achieved first power, starting to generate electricity and feed it into the German grid. Developer DONG Energy (now Ørsted) reported that the 252 MW project, comprising 42 Siemens 6 MW turbines, began supplying power as construction progressed in the German North Sea. Offshore installation works for Gode Wind 2 had started in April 2015, and the project was built in parallel with the adjacent Gode Wind 1 to capture construction synergies and reduce costs. Together, Gode Wind 1 and 2 will provide 582 MW of capacity, sufficient to supply around 600,000 German households once fully operational.
