In 2013, Ørsted (then DONG Energy) selected Siemens Wind Power (now Siemens Gamesa) as turbine supplier for the Gode Wind 1 and 2 offshore wind farms in the German North Sea. Under the agreement, Siemens would deliver a total of 97 direct-drive offshore wind turbines rated at 6 MW each, using the SWT‑6.0‑154 platform, with 55 turbines allocated to the 330 MW Gode Wind 1 project and 42 to Gode Wind 2. The contract also included a five‑year maintenance agreement following commissioning, positioning Siemens as both the turbine manufacturer and initial service provider for the combined 582 MW development located about 45 km off the German coast near the islands of Juist and Norderney.
