Offshore construction for the Gode Wind 1 offshore wind farm, developed by Ørsted (then DONG Energy), commenced in the first half of 2015 as part of the combined Gode Wind 1 and 2 build-out in the German North Sea. The projects, located approximately 45 km off the German coast and 33 km from the islands of Juist and Norderney, together involve 97 Siemens 6 MW turbines and two offshore substations. Construction activities at sea marked the transition from development and contracting into full execution, enabling subsequent installation of foundations, inter-array cabling, and turbines for the 330 MW Gode Wind 1 site and the adjacent 252 MW Gode Wind 2 site.
