Talanx coordinated project financing for the construction and operation of the Gode Wind 1 offshore wind farm by arranging a structured bond of EUR 556 million to fund Global Infrastructure Partners’ acquisition of a 50% stake from DONG Energy. The bond was placed with a group of institutional investors under the leadership of Talanx, marking the first time that an offshore wind project had been financed by a consortium of institutional investors led by an insurer rather than by banks. The transaction, which underpinned the financing structure around Gode Wind 1, was recognised by Project Finance International as the "Europe Renewables Deal of the Year 2015", with the PFI Awards presented in London on 3 February 2016.
