On 18 November 2013, DONG Energy (now Ørsted) decided to build the Gode Wind 1 and Gode Wind 2 offshore wind farms in the German North Sea, effectively taking final investment decision for the projects. Gode Wind 1 (330 MW) and Gode Wind 2 (252 MW) will together comprise 97 Siemens 6.0 MW turbines with 154-metre rotors, located about 45 km off the German coast. The total construction investment for the two wind farms is approximately EUR 2.2 billion. DONG Energy had already secured unconditional grid connection confirmation from TSO TenneT. Under Germany’s offshore "Stauchungsmodell" support regime, the projects will receive a fixed price per kWh for the first ten years of operation, after which revenues will be based on the market price. Offshore construction was scheduled to begin in the first half of 2015, with full commissioning expected in the second half of 2016.
