GeoSea was awarded a major transport and installation contract for the foundations of the Gode Wind 1 and 2 offshore wind farms. The award, made in December 2013, covers the offshore installation scope for the projects’ monopile foundations. Under the contract, GeoSea is responsible for transporting the monopiles and associated structures from fabrication sites to the German North Sea locations and installing them at the designated turbine positions. This package forms a key part of the balance-of-plant delivery for Gode Wind 1, enabling the subsequent installation of 55 Siemens 6 MW turbines at the 330 MW wind farm located about 45 km off the German coast.
