Gode Wind 1, Ørsted’s 330 MW offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, entered full commercial operation in June 2017. Together with the adjacent 252 MW Gode Wind 2, the project was reported as commissioned in June 2017, marking the transition from construction and testing to regular power production. The two wind farms comprise a total of 97 Siemens 6 MW turbines, of which 55 are installed at Gode Wind 1. Located about 45 km off the German coast and 33 km from the islands of Juist and Norderney, the wind farms export electricity via an offshore transformer platform to the German grid operated by TenneT. Following commissioning, Gode Wind 1 contributes to supplying emission-free electricity equivalent to the consumption of hundreds of thousands of households and forms part of Ørsted’s German offshore wind cluster.
