For the Global Tech I offshore wind project in the German North Sea, the competent authorities completed their review of the mandatory Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) carried out under Annex II of Directive 85/337/EEC. After extensive public consultation, the authorities granted a conditional environmental approval and issued a permit confirming that significant negative impacts on nature conservation sites could be excluded. This environmental decision, referenced in the European Investment Bank’s project documentation, was a prerequisite for EIB appraisal and subsequent financing of Global Tech I.
