Turnkey supply and installation of 62 km of 132 kV AC XLPE high‑voltage subsea power cable connecting the Gina Krog platform to Johan Sverdrup 2 on the Utsira High to enable power from shore.
Equinor awarded NKT a turnkey contract to design, manufacture and install a 132 kV AC XLPE subsea power cable linking the Gina Krog platform to the Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 installation on the Utsira High. The approximately 62 km single‑circuit cable enables Gina Krog to receive power from shore via the Johan Sverdrup area grid, forming the core electrical interconnector for the Gina Krog electrification scheme and later acting as the hub connection for further area electrification. The scope included engineering of the cable system, production of the high‑voltage submarine cable at NKT’s Karlskrona plant, and offshore installation and commissioning using the cable‑lay vessel NKT Victoria. The contract, valued at about EUR 29 million, is part of a wider Utsira High power‑from‑shore programme aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions from Norwegian offshore oil and gas production.
