On 12 February 2021 the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy approved the revised Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) for partial electrification of the Sleipner field centre. The approved solution involves laying a power cable from Sleipner to the Gina Krog platform and tying Sleipner and its tie-in fields, including Gina Krog, into the Utsira High power-from-shore area solution, enabling significant CO₂ emission reductions.
